The phone chain

The phone rang around 8pm. It was somebody's father with a message to pass down the phone chain. He mumbled his name and gave no other introductions. He had a message and I should write it down. So, I wrote what he said syllable by syllable. While I was writing, I was trying to figure out 1) what did the message mean 2) which phone chain is this 3) whose father is this 4) which child of mine is it for... The father asked me to read it back to him. I did. Then he told me to pass it on to the next in line and he hung up.

The message seemed to be something about "parent participation" and "tomorrow".

What to do? I could simply wait a few hours for the phone call that would inevitably come following up on a break in the phone chain. I could call a friend for help. I could pick the most logical phone chain and just dial the next person and pass it on.

Usually I would wait, but it does get tiring always being the clueless foreign person. So I got my daughter's class list, called the next person and passed on the message in its entirety. I even felt proud of myself for not procrastinating.

Sure enough, two hours later, I got the phone call inquiring about the break in the phone chain...

Getting Started

Today I was upset with my son and made him sit under the waterfall for an hour to contemplate and adjust his attitude. This method of discipline seems to be working...

Just kidding. I am trying to figure out how this works and both of us liked this photo. I am looking forward to getting the hang of this.

until next time...
